Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria
The dynamic landscape of Laguna Gloria combines a rich cultural heritage shaped by unique geologic and hydrologic forces and amplified by diverse native ecologies to form the foundation for making and experiencing site-specific art.
The 2015 Master Plan for The Contemporary Austin’s Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria transforms the site into a work of art unto itself to activate this historic landscape as an international arts destination and valued local amenity. It will become the platform for collaboration between artists and curators enabling compelling and enriching visitor experiences. Our work weaves together new and old with circulation patterns throughout the campus connecting artists and visitors to the confluence of water, land, and vegetation while respecting the site’s historic integrity and character. The project creates a venue that will exhibit and commission sculpture and permanent outdoor installations by some of today’s leading artists.
